What Is Internet Marketing And How Can It Help Me Make Money Online?

Many newbies (People that are new to marketing their goods online) come online thinking, all that they have to do is join an affiliate program, take their new affiliate page link and submit it to the search engines and soon "hordes of visitors" will arrive ready to purchase and this will equal massive profits for the newbie.

Sooner than later, they become extremely frustrated when they find out that nobody has shown up at their affiliate page and they have recorded "0" commissions.

Internet marketing in a nutshell is the process of using a wide array of tools and techniques, by online business owners to drive highly targeted traffic to their websites in order to generate sales. It is the whole spectrum of advertising through multiple formats.

Successful business owners know that in order to succeed online, they need to learn the in's and out's of internet marketing. There are many areas of learning that includes, Web design, article marketing, email marketing, copywriting, pay per click marketing, ezine publishing, Seo, etc., etc.

You can see that internet marketing is comprised of many different techniques. The end result of your marketing is to drive traffic and make sales from your website. By simply submitting your website link to the search engines simply is not enough with all of the competition online.

Marketing online is simply a numbers game. You can have the greatest website and products online, but if nobody can find your sites, you will never make any sales. By getting a high ranking in Google for a highly searched keyword in your niche, you are guaranteed success.

For me personally, I have found that, I make more sales through 2 forms of marketing. The first is article marketing. I simply write articles on topics of interest and submit them freely to the various high traffic article directories such as Ezine articles.

By doing so, I build thousands of backlinks to my sites. Google's ranking algorythm (Googles Formula For Ranking Sites) is driven by following links. Each link to your website from a peers website is a vote for your site. The higher your peer's ranking the more your ranking will rise over time.

The higher your websites ranking in google, the more visitors will arrive at your website. This is free targeted traffic, the best kind of traffic you can get.

When other webmasters pick up and publish my articles, I get traffic from the Seo effect, as well as their visitors, when they click on the link in my authors bio box at the bottom of my article.

The effect is viral in nature meaning 1 article can send 1000's of visitors and links to my websites. The great thing about article marketing, is that you receive traffic, years after the article is published and it's free. The only investment is your time.

My second technique, that I use, is capturing subscribers through my free ezine (weekly newsletter).

Many visitors to your website will not purchase on the first visit. It is proven that most sales are made after several follow ups. This is why a weekly newsletter is so important for you to keep in touch with your visitors and build trust between you and them. By building relationships with your readers your sales will increase as a result.

Internet marketing takes on many forms, but the basic meaning of internet marketing is advertising your website through various techniques in order to drive traffic to your sites and make sales.
